How to add protein into pancakes

Although I’m a self diagnosed carboholic, I do realize the value of getting protein for breakfast. Combining carbs with protein helps you feel fuller longer and curbs your appetite. This helps me to stick to my meal plans.

It was crucial for me to eat protein in addition to the foods I love.

How to add protein into pancakes

Here are some ways to increase the protein in pancakes

  • Add egg whites.Egg whites are only 17 calories but contain almost 4 grams protein.
  • Add Protein powdeR: One scoop of 30g protein powder has approximately 22 grams of protein.
  • Purchase Protein pancake mixKodiak cakes, for example.
  • Add Greek yogurt. 20 grams of protein are available for a 2/3 cup Greek yogurt.
  • Add Nuts and seeds. While you’ll get more calories per nut, it is a great source of protein.
  • Add Peanut butter powder. Peanut butter powder is low in calories and high in protein.

I used a mashed banana to mix it all together.

*Update November 2022. I’m adding this recipe to my latest meal plan, and I modified it to use Clean Simple Eats protein shakeIt is important to note that the calories and macros differ. I therefore calculated it as one meal, eating the whole batch and topping it off with peanut butter.

I calculated the macros and calories to 344 calories, 38 grams protein, 28 grams carbohydrates, 10 grams fat. It’s seriously so good!

  • Mix egg whites with protein powder.

  • Stir in mashed banana until smooth. Add peanut butter powder to the mixture and stir.

  • Cook 1/4 cup of the batter at once on a skillet over medium heat.
