OK!! OK! My health food store sells protein bars, protein balls, as well as all kinds of protein cookies. They are ridiculously expensive. For one tiny treat, they can cost as much as $2.

These bars are not worth my money. And honestly, I don’t even think I’m going to keep buying Built bars! I’ve lived on them for so long, but their calories AND their prices keep going UP!!

But I will keep buying protein powder to make my own! These cake balls made from protein powder taste delicious!

To make these protein cake balls, all you’re going to do is:

  1. Mix all ingredients together.
  2. Spread the dough onto a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
  3. Place white chocolate in the freezer to cool while you melt it.
  4. Take out of freezer and roll into balls
  5. Dip in melted chocolate
  6. Sprinkle with sprinkles
  7. Place back in the freezer to set the white chocolate.
  8. Take them out, and then store the rest in your fridge for later.

These protein balls were made with the following ingredients:

  • Almond butter. This keeps the dough smooth, but doesn’t give it the peanut butter flavor.
  • Honey. This is dessert after all! Honey is a great natural sweetener.
  • Flour. You can make protein balls with flour. But these taste almost like cake pops.
  • Vanilla protein- I used it Clean Simple Eats vanilla protein, as it’s become the only protein powder I use anymore. It can be used in baking, drinking, and other activities.
  • Baking batter extract (or flavoring). This isn’t hard to find anymore. You can find cake batter flavors in any grocery store bakery aisle.
  • White chocolate chips are sugar free. These chips have come a long ways in the past 10 years. It melts just as smooth as white chocolate with sugar and tastes just as sweet.
  • Sprinkles are also a great option for aesthetics

For coating

  • 50 Grams White chocolate chips that are sugar-free
  • 2 Spoonfuls Sprinkles
  • Mix almond butter with honey, flour and protein powder in a small bowl. Blend until smooth. If necessary, you can add 1 tablespoon of almond milk to make it more sticky.

  • Use a medium cookie spoon (1 1/2 tablespoon) to scoop sticky dough onto parchment paper on small cookie sheets (makes 8).

  • While you melt the white choc, place the batter in the freezer.

  • Melt chocolate chips in microwave with 50% power for 30 seconds.

  • Take the frozen cake balls out of the freezer and roll them into balls. Dip in the white chocolate. Sprinkle with a pinch of sprinkles and return to the cookie sheet.

  • Place in the freezer until the white chocolate is set. Move to and store in the fridge until ready for use.
